A Man, a bike, a commitment

This looks to have been covered back in 2008...so it's ancient in the world of blogging. However, it was new to me, and great to hear how a bicycle turned this man's life around. View the complete slide show and story here.

Contaluck takes the lead in the Tour De France

Wow...just when it looked like Andy Schleck's well timed attack had left Contador slow to react disaster struck and Schleck's chain dropped. The results, Contador attacked the mechanically disabled Schleck and gained control of the yellow jersey.

For the often villified Alberto Contador, his tactics will be scrutinzed greatly, and his reputation as one of the most hated men in cycling will no doubt get a ratings boost.

The birth of a brand | Strada Handbuilt Wheels

If anyone has been wondering why I've been updating this site a bit less frequently...don't despair, I'm still here. I've just been busy helping a gentleman from across the pond get his new company up and running. The company....fortunately for me is in the cycling industry. So, from time to time as I continue to help shape the 'brand' I'll be dropping little bits of the project here on the site. Today, I'm pleased to unveil the new logo (b&w version) for STRADA HANDBUILT WHEELS.  Jonathan, who is the owner of Strada, has established a blog that will follow the company's early development.

The most important factor to consider when designing a logo for a wheel company. It must look good on them!

1977 Schwinn Varsity for sale $50

The bike bike sell-off continues here in my lair. Next up for sale is a really sharp looking 1977 Schwinn Varsity with Camelback top tube.  You certainly won't win the Tour de France ontop this machine, but the paint sparkles so you'll look good tooling around the streets. It has a 17" frame....so don't be tall.  Just need to be washed and lubed and it'll go.  Tires are no longer gumwalls. I had to replace the tires and tubes after purchasing it myself. Local sale only. No way I'm shipping this thing.  $50

Bianchi Bicycle Ads

I can't speak a lick of German...nor can I simply copy and paste the headlines from the ads into a handy dandy translator. So, I'll just admire the pretty pictures. Found on Adsoftheworld.

Next stop | Boston

Those who are close to me have known that I left my old gig back in April and have been on the lookout for my next city. San Fran, and Los Angeles were the initial favorites, but after a fortuitous visit to Boston in late June I've decided to call Boston my home once again. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to roll into the my new place in Chelsea with a few less bikes.

So, I'm reaching out to all the Boston cycle peeps out there. Where are the best spots to ride?  Any good places for road biking (preferably north of the city)?  What about MTB?  Or should I retire those disciplines and accept the fact that from here on out....I'm a full-time single speeder?

What lies behind the green door?
